The winter holiday season is approaching faster and faster each year. Sometimes i feel like some months get skipped its moving so fast. I only speak for myself when I say that when it comes to this time of year it's definitely a love/hate relationship. I love the idea of family bonding and coming closer together through giving and gratitude. But I hate how busy life gets and how much of an energy drain it is to pull out all the bells and whistles.
Having enough energy to get through my day is crucial being a stay at home, homeschooling, online business running mom of three and wifey to my best friend. Throw in some holidays, which may or may not include hubby doing overtime (thus leaving me home alone with the kids for longer amounts of time), shopping, cooking, working on my blog and business, not dropping the ball on our lesson plans like a really really want to, traveling and a whole lot more from my day to day life and holiday planning. I have had to use these 5 daily practices to stay on point and energetic during the holiday season each year.
If you don't know, I have three kiddos. My step daughter is 14 and my boys are 3 and 4. Between the three of them I have learned to smile more. They are all constantly testing my patience and my mood with attitudes, tantrums, and the low energy they give toward their schoolwork and housework. But I've learned that when I smile and even laugh at the behavior the real kid pops out and I have a better chance of nipping the bad behavior in the bud.
When someone smiles at you don't you automatically feel your smile curling up too. It's the same when someone yells at you or cries. You automatically feel empathetic to the emotions. The same goes for a nice juicy smile or belly laugh. My kids' attitudes and even tantrums lighten up when I approach them with a smile.
And when they lighten up on Mom I have more energy toward my holiday plans that I didn't need to put into yelling or punishing. I'm not saying don't discipline but when your discipline comes with a smile kiddos want to please you more.
Straight up, since I started these supplements my energy has boosted tremendously. The first is called Tegreen 97. It is bomb dot com. Seriously! It's a highly effective concentrated extract of the antioxidant catechins found naturally in green tea that promote long term cellular health. Ok I know you are wondering what cellular health has to do with having more energy.
Well, contrary to popular belief, your metabolism is located in every cell in your body. Your metabolism is a series of things happening in your cells that help turn your food into fuel for your body to stay alive and keep pushing. Tegreen 97 promotes healthy cell function and protects cell formation. Healthy cells mean your body, brain and organs are all receiving the fuel needed to move forward through the long to do list that comes with holiday prep.
The other supplement I fell in love with is Cortitrol. This supplement works to fight stress. It helps you deal with stressful situations with a more clear and confident mind. I don't know about you but when I'm stressed I freeze up. When I'm faced with a stressful situation like the holidays approaching fast, I tend to freeze up or overly plan because I'm really freaking out on the inside. Cortitrol helps me deal with those stressful situations by modulating healthy levels of cortisol through a unique blend of natural shown to promote normal stress response. And it really really works.
This has been one of the hardest things I have ever tried to do in my life as a mother. My boys have such a hard time sleeping through the night that waking up early is the last thing I want to do. But when I do... I feel amazing. I get to plan out my day without people tugging on my clothes. Hell, I get to put on real clothes without someone pulling on them while I get dressed. And it really puts me in a better mood throughout my day.
If you haven't read the book The Miracle Morning you really need to check it out. This guy Hal Elrod created these six life S.A.V.E.R.S. that he performed every morning at 5am that turned his life from bankrupt to millionaire. I love this book. Like I said i haven't been able do get enough sleep to actually do it for 30 days straight like he suggests but when I have gotten the chance to do my miracle morning it transformed my mood for that entire day. My energy was high and my stress was low.
Now I can't speak on this from actual current experience but I can remember a time when I got 8 hours of sleep each night. Like before kids. Those were the days! Plus I hear all this great scientific stuff about how awesome sleeping through the night can be for every part of your body and even your personality and mood.
Even though this isn't something that is ready and available for most moms it's a good thing to mention because sleep helps to revitalize the brain and body for the next day thus creating more energy.
I'm big on organizing and action plans. Some might even say I am too good at creating plans and not good enough at sticking to them. I'm a work in progress as many of you are. But having a plan is really half the battle. If you don't know what to do you can end up using so much of your energy on tasks that don't really push you forward. You can create all the goals you want but getting organized keeps you on track so you know what your big ticket tasks are versus your tasks that keep you busy but don't get any goals accomplished.
In a different way getting your paperwork and home organized can save you a lot of energy when having to physically look for items you need in your home. When you need to bring in paperwork for an appointment do you automatically know where to find your son's birth certificate or shot records? Not having to run around the house and search for things saves you so much energy. And it makes you feel like a boss.
As a mom, having the energy to keep up with all the holiday lists and deadlines can be almost impossible without these hacks.
How do you stay energetic through the holidays?
